On 11 September 2015, UNHCR Moldova alongside its implementing partner Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) and Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings organized information training on human trafficking. In this regard, UNHCR Moldova wanted to value the efforts and share the interest of RM in combating trafficking in human beings.

Within the information session, UNHCR Moldova aimed at informing refugee community about a crime which may entail serious violations of the human rights. Most of the time, refugees are identified as potential victims for human trafficking. When an environmental disaster occurs, people are forced to flee their country without legal authorization or documents. Desperate to survive and unfamiliar with the culture of the host country, refugees become extremely vulnerable to human trafficking. That is why, UNHCR took initiative to invite experts of the Border Police Department, Center for Combating Human Trafficking and Centre for victims of trafficking in human beings in order to provide an overall information on risks of trafficking and the actions which have to be undertaken in case of trafficking.
