On the occasion of World Refugee Day, which is marked annually on June the 20th, it was organized a table tennis tournament.
The initiative came from the part of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and aims to contribute to the integration of refugees into the local society. The competition was attended by teams from the UNHCR, IOM, NGOs’ “Charity Center for Refugees “, ” Law Centre of Advocates “, ” AVE Copiii ” and from governmental institutions – ministries, state companies, embassies, etc.. In total, the competition was attended by approximately 100 people, including 22 women and it was organized at the State University Specialized Table Tennis Arena. The match was played after the Olympic system, which means that the one who lose is out of competition.
At the end of the competition, the first place-holder became Mr. Ciprian Valah, representative of the Ministry of Interior, the second place was taken by Mr. Igor Pascal Swedish Embassy, and the third place went to Mr. Igor Cioclea from the Ministry of Informational Technology and Communications .
The female winner became Svetlana Castravet, Razeni Mayoralty representative, the second and the third places went to Viorica Sclearuc from the Ministry of Interior and respecticely to Cebanţa Victoria from the Border Guard Service. The nomination “public sympathy” was gained by a refugee from Ghana, Ibrahim Muhammad. According to organizers, this event will become a beautiful tradition dedicated to the World Refugee Day marked in Moldova.
We note that Moldova, in the recently published Peace Fund report, has the best ratio in massive movements of refugees.
Cu ocazia Zilei Mondiale a Refugiaţilor, care este marcată anual la 20 iunie, a fost organizată o competiţie de tenis de masă.
Iniţiativa vine din partea Reprezentanţei Înaltului Comisariat al Naţiunilor Unite pentru Refugiaţi (UNHCR) şi are drept scop contribuirea comunitaţii locale la integrarea refugiaţilor în societate. La competiţie au participat echipe, atât de la UNHCR, Organizaţia Internaţională pentru Migraţie, ONG-urile „Centrul de Caritate pentru Refugiaţi”, „Centrul de Drept al Avocaţilor”, „AVE Copiii” cât şi de la structurile guvernamentale – ministere, companii se stat, ambasade etc. În total, la competiţie au participat aproximativ 100 de persoane, printre care şi 22 de femei şi s-a desfăşurat pe Arena specializată de tenis de masă a Universităţii de Stat din Moldova, iar meciurile s-au disputat după sistemul olimpic, adică cine pierde iese din competiţie.
