On 27 December 2017, the Charity Centre for Refugees organized for the 4th year a party on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year, with a thematic performance at the Republican Puppet Theatre “Licurici”, with the support of UNHCR Moldova and the Bureau of Migration and Asylum.
Almost 300 refugee and asylum seeking children with their parents and locals were warmly welcomed by the Director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad, the Head of UNHCR Moldova Mr. Traian Turcanu and the Head of the Directorate of Asylum and Integration of the Bureau of Migration and Asylum, Mr. Iulian Popov.
After that, “Santa Claus” supported by a group of fair characters took the stage and involved the attending children in various games. The show continued with a puppet theatre performance which was very much enjoyed by the children and their families. Once it had ended, CCR distributed Christmas gifts to all children, and wished them all the best for next year.
CCR would like to thank the EVS and local volunteers for their help in making this event possible.
This event gathered refugee and asylum seeking children (from countries like Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, Afghanistan, India, Palestina, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc.), as well as local children from Mereni and Razeni villages, Galata gymnasium, and many other local children from Chisinau with the special focus on integrating the refugees and asylum seekers in the local community.
