On 23rd of February 2019, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR and Bureau of Migration and Asylum organized Mărțișor celebration at the Community Centre for around 40 refugees and asylum seekers, including children, from Yemen, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, India, Sudan, Syria, Armenia and Iraq.

The event has initiated with the welcome speech of Mr. Djavid Paknehad – Project Coordinator and Admin of the Community Centre. CCR team presented an informative slide-show regarding Mărțișor as it is a nice tradition in the Republic of Moldova, including the meaning of the two colors and the legend that follows Mărțișor – a holiday with a history more than 8 millenniums. Mărțișor is also celebrated in Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania.

In the end of the presentation some kids recited nice poems about spring. Each person from the Refugee Community was involved in making Mărțișor from white and red yarns. Even the adults enjoyed that process, because for some of them this holiday is completely unknown, but it touched their hearts.
