On the day of the 12th of April, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of the UNHCR Moldova and BMA organized Easter celebration for refugees leaving in Chisinau that were invited to come to CCR office to make a common event.
The main room of the CCR was absolutely filled up with people from the all over the world, all cheering together. The refugees were congratulated by the Head of UNHCR Moldova, Mr. Traian Turcanu, the Head of the Asylum and Integration Directorate from the BMA, Mr. Iulian Popov and the director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad. The event was organized with the support of the Moldavian Metropolitan Church, represented by Mr. Octavian, a local priest who explained the meanings of the celebration and local traditions and habits.
At the end, Mr. Traian Turcanu, the Head of the UNHCR Moldova answered several questions regarding the refugees’ and asylum seekers’ situation in Moldova. At the end every single person got a small package with some sweets and fruits, as well as pies (placinte) and a juice. Just before leaving a traditional Easter Moldovan cake was given to everybody who came.
The event went on very well and gave a good opportunity to enjoy and spread smiles all over.
The CCR would like to thank all the guests present at the event and refugees who enjoyed the day together and, especially, the Moldavian Metropolitan Church that supports every year CCR during Easter events.
