INFORMATIVE SESSION FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS ABOUT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

On 19 March 2019, Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR and Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA) organized an informative session for asylum seekers residing at the Temporary Accommodation Centre (TAC) about employment opportunities on the local labour market.

The goal of the informative session was presented to the participants by the director of CCR, Mr. Ahmad Djavid Paknehad and CCR employment counsellor, Mrs. Ecaterina Silvestru.

The event was organized in collaboration with National Employment Agency (NEA) represented by Mrs. Lucia Balan who described services that the NEA provides, instruments to look for a job, including online, and NEA network on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Asylum seekers found out social welfare benefits for those who are officially employed during two consecutive years according to the new adopted law by the Government of the RM.

At the event also participated Mr. Ruslan Mazur, representative of the BMA, Mr. Valeriu Stratila, director of TAC and Mrs. Vasilisa Cumanova, social worker at TAC. In total there were 21 participants, including 13 asylum seekers.

The event aimed at informing and familiarising asylum seekers, especially the new arrived ones, with existing job opportunities on the local labour market. Participants were encouraged to increase their socio-economic level and engage in an official job.
