On 20 and 25 of February 2017 a workshop at the Temporary Accommodation Centre and a workshop at Centre of Charity for Refugees were organized by staff and volunteers of the Charity Centre for Refugees. Beneficiaries learned how to create Martisor handmade crafts with red and white wool and also learned about this tradition thanks to the presentation in Russian and Romanian carried out by two of the volunteers. Local, European and Refugee volunteers were very actively involved in these activities.
About forty PoCs discovered about this costume, one of the most significant celebrations in Moldova – symbol of the spring’s arrival, making them to be part of an ancient tradition and with a small act bringing them closer to Moldovan society.
