Meeting of the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) and the Bureau for Migration and Asylum (BMA)

On May 25, 2021, the director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad, accompanied by Mrs. Ecaterina Silvestru, the employment counsellor within CCR, had a meeting with Mrs. Olga Poalelungi, the director of BMA and Mr. Iulian Popov, the head of the Asylum and Integration Directorate subordinated to BMA.

During the working meeting, have been discussed detailed the aspects related to the program of organizing several joint activities related to 2 important events: the celebration of the International Children’s Day on June 1 and the marking of the World Refugee Day on June 20. This year, too, due to the pandemic, the format of activities, for obvious reasons, will be more restricted. It was concluded to organize an exhibition of paintings, illustrative materials and photos from the life of refugees, with its location in one of the central institutions of the state, sports competitions on the sports field at the Temporary Accommodation Centre (TAC) and the media coverage.

Also, were discussed the daily problems of the asylum seekers:

  • the lack of Wi-Fi in TAC which makes impossible for people to communicate with their families and the presence of students at online lessons;
  • the resumption of the Romanian language study courses within the Ion Creanga State University by all the beneficiaries of the national asylum system;
  • as far as possible, to create emergency stocks of food and hygiene products;
  • the inability of the asylum seekers to purchase a health insurance, etc.
