On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) conducted a webinar for the women, children and men from the refugee community, mixed families and locals which was dedicated to the “#FootballPeople weeks 2021” Campaign, CCR’s motto being “Show red cards to DISCRIMINATION! Say yes to EQUALITY!”

The host, Mrs. Cristina PAKNEHAD (CCR’s Deputy Director and Fundraising Specialist), explained what about is the “#FootballPeople weeks” Campaign – the promotion of equality and elimination of discrimination and racism.

At webinar were invited a Moldovan professional football player, Mr. Gheorghe ANDRONIC (from “Milsami Orhei” Football Club) and one representative from the Football Association of Moldova (FAM), Mr. Anatolie COJOCARI (FAM’s Grassroots Projects Manager). Both kindly shared their professional stories, explained the development of the career, described their multicultural experience while interacting with persons from the football domain, talked about the football Championships in the Republic of Moldova and about the rules and recommendations for those children who want to become professional football players.

The PowerPoint presented by host has shown the activities which took place within the “UEFA Football and Refugees Grant Scheme 2018/2019” Project with the huge support of FAM. Unfortunately, this year CCR could not organize a football tournament on the mini-football field built at the Temporary Accommodation Centre within this Project, because of the Moldovan pandemic restrictions.

The refugee community and CCR’s staff (around 80 persons) had the opportunity to ask the special guests some questions about football. Also, a 9-year-old boy from a mixed family (Syria-Moldova) told that he is playing football at the “Zimbru” Football Club already for 5 years and his dream is to become a recognized professional football player.

CCR’s beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the nice initiative to organize a webinar within the “#FootballPeople weeks 2021” Campaign and such a friendly atmosphere.
