On 16th of January 2019, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR and Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA) organized a round table for students from the International Relations Faculty of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) at the Temporary Accommodation Centre (TAC) for asylum seekers.
TAC, in the head with the Director Mr. Valeriu Stratila, guested a group of 22 students, together with the Dean of the International Relations Faculty from ULIM, Mrs. Viorica Ticu and CCR staff, in head with the Director Mr. Djavid Paknehad.
During the round table, TAC`s Director explained in details the activities of the Centre and provided cases of the former asylum seekers. The students were interested to understand exactly the asylum procedure, including statistics, forms of international protection existing in the Republic of Moldova and they received all necessary information from the present experts, Mr. Stratila and Mr. Paknehad.
A real surprise for them was to discover that in the Republic of Moldova there are around 500 refugees and asylum seekers, the most of the persons of concern (3 500 000) are placed in Turkey and that in the world there are 68 million of refugees.
The Charity Centre for Refugees encourages locals that would like to find out about refugee situation in the Republic of Moldova and welcomes, especially students at our premises.
