On 16th of September 2018 in the Public Garden ”Ștefan cel Mare” in Chisinau took place the XVII edition of the Republican Ethnic Festival under the patronage of the Agency of Inter-ethnic Relations and Chisinau Mayoralty.
The event was inaugurated by the General Director of the Inter-ethnic Relations Agency and the main guests were the President of Republic of Moldova, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and the Deputy Mayor of Chisinau. All of them highlighted the importance of peace building through multiculturalism regardless nationality, language or faith.
Alongside local NGOs and ethnic groups living in the Republic of Moldova that presented national costumes, cuisine, dances, songs etc., the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) as a reliable partner of the Agency of Inter-ethnic Relations during its long-lasting collaboration, as each year, participated at the event together with a group of refugees. CCR presented a photo exhibition, a handicrafts exhibition made by refugees, some refugees paraded down national costumes and an Indian refugee presented a national dance.
The event aimed at promoting tolerance towards diversity and strengthen the society unity and cohesion. CCR intended to raise the awareness of local people regarding refugee issues and acquaint refugees with local multiculturalism, traditions and habits.
