On the second Saturday of October 2018, Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) within the program of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Moldova and in co-operation with the Metropolitan Church of Moldova assured an excursion at 3 monasteries in Calarasi district.
70 refugees, asylum-seekers and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection, mixed families – persons of concern (PoCs) – from such countries as Syria, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Turkey, India, Sudan etc. discovered different interesting things about the visited holly places. In each monastery was a guide who shared the key moments regarding their life and the history of the buildings. All the monasteries are more than 200 years old (the women Monastery Frumoasa was built in 1804, Hirjauca Monastery was built in 1740 and Hirbovat Monastery is the oldest one, because it was built in 1730).
The received information was about the Christian religion thematic, the architecture of the holly buildings, the unforgettable smell of candles and incense, different icons (some of them being considered miraculous) and some stories that have some decades or even centuries.
CCR wish that the PoCs will be closer to the Moldavian history, religion and the tolerance between Christians and Muslims will increase thanking to the got dates and peace that came from each monk.
