On the 11th of April, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of the UNHCR Moldova and BMA, with the support of the Moldavian Metropolitan Church and the administration of the TAC (Temporary Accommodation Centre) organized Easter celebration at the TAC for asylum seekers. Despite the fact that the majority of refugees living in the Republic of Moldova arrived from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Sudan etc. CCR strives to organize international and, especially, national holidays for asylum seekers and refugees in order to support their understanding of local traditions, habits and culture that would facilitate their integration into local community.

The event was connected with the rejoicing of Easter and, since the first lights of the day the preparations began in the kitchen of the TAC. Thus, a group of women painted and dyed eggs and cooked their traditional dishes. This time the cuisine was originated from Afghanistan, and the main specialty was found out to be pilaf (plov), a delicious dish made of rice, meat and vegetables.

The festive part of the event started in the conference room and the director of the TAC, Mr. Valeriu Stratila, as well as the director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad, had few speeches to the assembly wishing a very happy Easter to everybody. After that Mr. Gheorghe, a local priest explained what the celebrated holiday is exactly and what is the meaning of it, what turned out into a deeply interesting discussion between the migrants and the representative of the Orthodox Church. Then the audience went to the room and the savoring of the excellent food in a very peaceful and pleasant atmosphere.

The CCR would like to thank representative from the Moldavian Metropolitan Church for supporting the event for asylum seekers and the TAC administration for hosting it.
