On 26th of June, Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR Moldova and BMA, organized, alongside with Refugee Women’s Council, the Eid al Fitr to celebrate the end of Ramadan. The event marks the end of one of the strictest fasting in the world, called Ramadan. During one month, the Muslims should fast for all the day long, and only after the sunset till the sunrise they could eat and drink and should pray five times per day, as usual.

When Ramadan ends, everybody celebrates Eid al Fitr for three days. The adults are happy that they could keep fully Ramadan, but the children from all over the world receive gifts as clothes, shoes, toys or sweets.

On Tuesday, at CCR came refugees, asylum seekers and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection with their kids to enjoy the celebration as they did at home, in their countries. At the beginning Mr. Djavid Paknehad – CCR`s director and Mrs. Svetlana Jioara from UNHCR Moldova congratulated them and a refugee wished the best to all present people.

Alongside with learning of local traditions, customs and habits of the host society, refugees need to be encouraged to preserve their national identity as it brings added value to Moldavian society, creating a diverse and multicultural community.
