The Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) has been collaborating for more than 10 years with the ULIM and since October 2018 CCR signed a collaboration agreement with the International Relations, Political Sciences and Journalism Faculty.
In this regard, on 9th of November 2020, CCR and the International Relations, Political Sciences and Journalism Faculty organized a ZOOM webinar for students of the faculty. The webinar aimed at raising awareness amongst students regarding refugee situation in the world and in the Republic of Moldova.
The webinar was hosted by the Dean of this faculty, Mrs. Viorica Ticu, who introduced the special guest – Mr. Sergiu Gaina, Senior Protection Associate at the Regional Office of UNHCR for Central Europe. Students were explained the history of UNHCR during the years, UNHCR’s mandate and role in the world, generally, and in the Republic of Moldova, particularly, the fundamental right to seek asylum, the persons of concern and examples of recognized persons who have been refugees.
After the presentation, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the UNHCR’s representative. At the end, the Director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad, informed that CCR will make, the next webinar, a presentation about its activities and purpose as the students are future diplomats and need to have a better understanding of the situation of refugees in the world and in the Republic of Moldova.
Mrs. Viorica Ticu brought her gratitude to Mr. Sergiu Gaina for sharing such interesting facts about refugees worldwide.
