On 22nd of June 2019, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) in partnership with the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) within the project financed by the UEFA organised a football tournament to mark the World Refugee Day.
Worldwide on 20 June is marked World Refugee Day to highlight the strength of those who have been forced to flee their countries of origin from persecution or war to seek safety. To encourage and support refugees living in the Republic of Moldova four football teams played, representing the Ministry of Defence, Razeni village and refugee community.
Players and spectators were welcomed by the following guests: Head of the Asylum and Integration Directorate of the Bureau of Migration and Asylum, Mr. Iulian Popov, representative of the Regional Office of UNHCR in Central Europe, Mr. Sergiu Gaina, Technical Director of the FMF, Mr. Sergiu Butelschi and Marketing Specialist, Mrs. Diana Bulgaru, Mayor of Razeni village, Mr. Ion Cretu and Director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad.
The event was organised in Razeni village which is supporting refugee integration into local community during many years and due to the long-lasting collaboration with public administration, local children presented a few dances and recited poetries about peace. Also, spectators enjoyed the playground, animators, ice-cream and other entertainment activities.
CCR Director expresses gratitude to the Moldovan Football Federation and UEFA, mayoralty of Razeni and their football team, the team of the Ministry of Defence for participating and supporting the event.
