In the framework of the collaboration with the Municipal Directorate for Social Work and Health, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of the UNHCR Regional Representation for Central Europe and Bureau for Migration and Asylum, has received 39 food products packets that were distributed to the asylum-seekers who are living at the Temporary Accommodation Centre, including 2 for elderly refugees living in the city. The products are designed for beneficiaries of the social canteens that previously were provided free of charge lunches on par with the vulnerable citizens.

In relation to the Coronavirus emergency declared in the Republic of Moldova, the Municipality decided to stop for an uncertain period the delivery of the lunches in order to avoid the fast spread and infections with the COVID-19. Instead, the municipal authorities provided as an alternative food products.

In the actual context, many of asylum-seekers lost their jobs and, therefore, their sources of subsistance and the assistance provided by the Municipality represents a significant support for them, especially for asylum-seeking families.

The director of the CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad feels encouraging and grateful to the head of the Municipal Social Work and Health Directorate, Mrs. Tatiana Bucearschi, the General Mayor of the Chisinau Muncipality, Mr. Ion Ceban and to all community social workers of the Chisinau Municiaplity for being sensitive to vulnerable asylum-seekers and refugees in such difficult times.
