On 28th October 2017, Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR Moldova and BMA, with the support of refugees and asylum seekers from Syria, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Georgia, Jordan and other countries organized the cultural event “Toamna de Aur” or Golden Autumn at the Temporary Accommodation Center (TAC). The activity was an initiative proposed by refugee and asylum seeking women as part of the developed program at the Creativity Center in TAC. Thus, there was organized a cooking workshop that aimed to promote diversity through unity during one activity where participants could share their views on food customs from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
The delicious dishes were tasted by all the participants, including 40 refugees and asylum seekers who live at TAC and in the city, CCR’s staff and European volunteers. That was a good opportunity to exchange knowledge about refugee’s food culture and explore foreign countries. Refugee and asylum seeking women that organized the event celebrated it, also, through national and traditional dances and songs and they would like to thank UNHCR for financial support, BMA for the free of charge space and CCR for the coordination of the event.
