HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2019

On the 20th of February 2020, the director of the Charity Centre for Refugees, Mr. Djavid Paknehad was invited to the presentation of the UNDP Human Development Report for 2019 – Beyond income, beyond averages, beyond today: Inequalities in human development in the 21st century. The event was opened by the Prim-minister of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Ion Chicu and the Regional Deputy Director of the UNDP for Europe and Central Asia, Mrs. Agi Veres.

Meantime, UNDP office in Moldova presented the study “Inequalities in the rural and urban Moldova” according to which our country has lost 10.4% of its human development due to inequalities and currently ranks 107th out of 189 countries and territories according to the Human Development Index. Most inequalities in Moldova derive from income inequalities (14%), inequalities in life expectancy at birth (9.6%) and inequality in education (7.3%).

The event was attended by 200 people, including representatives of the Government, development partners and civil society and was organized on the World Day of Social Justice.
