On 11 November 2020, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) together with the Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA) and Moldovan Football Federation (MFF) decided to organize an event to mark officially the opening of the football pitch. The football pitch was built on the territory of the TAC for asylum seekers in the framework of the “UEFA Football and Refugees Grant Scheme 2018/2019” Project that was implemented by the CCR in collaboration with MFF.
At the opening participated the State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Gheorghe Balan, the Head of BMA, Ms. Olga Poalelungi, the Head of Asylum and Integration Directorate from BMA, Mr. Iulian Popov, the Director of TAC, Mr. Valeriu Stratila, the Marketing and Grassroots Manager of MFF, Ms. Diana Bulgaru, the Director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad and CCR’s team.
The MFF’s representative informed the guests about the project goals, outcomes and impact on the refugee population while CCR – about refugee integration in the Republic of Moldova and the perspective of the partnership with the MFF and national and local authorities. This football pitch gives the opportunity to asylum seekers and refugees, including women and children to play football between each other and with local children from the nearby kindergarten and “Galata” Gymnasium.
The Director of BMA and CCR signed a hand over note. The State Secretary highlighted the importance of the football pitch for the benefit of the asylum seekers that reside at TAC, promotion of football and health activities.
