On 29 June 2019, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of UNHCR, organised at the touristic complex “Costesti” an informal gathering for more than 150 refugees and asylum seekers living in the Republic of Moldova to mark World Refugee Day alongside with our partners from Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA), Mr. Iulian Popov, Law Centre of Advocates, Ms. Tatiana Chebac and Mr. Ion Bambuleac and AVE Copiii, Mrs. Angelica Russu.

Participants were welcomed by the Director of CCR, Mr. Djavid Paknehad and Head of Asylum and Integration Directorate, BMA, Mr. Iulian Popov who talked about refugee situation in the world and in the Republic of Moldova wishing refugees to stay positive and strong in their way to integration.

Refugees and asylum seekers enjoyed a show of the trained dogs – Lucky and Amy – from the Border Police conducted by Mr. Ghenadie Rotaru, refugee women and children painted their faces and hands with colours and henna while others played volleyball and football and admired good weather and people.

Worldwide on 20 June is marked the World Refugee Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly,  to show solidarity with those who had to flee their countries of origin due to persecution, armed conflicts and other events that put in danger their lives and safety.

CCR thanks all participants and partners for supporting the event, especially representative of the Border Police, Mr. Ghenadie Rotaru.
