The Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) came up with the initiative to assure vulnerable asylum-seekers living at the Temporary Accommodation Centre (TAC) with a lunch per day provided in the framework of the state social canteen programme. In this regard, CCR met in September 2019 with the Head of the Municipal Social Work and Health Directorate (SWHD), Mrs. Tatiana Bucearschi, who was open for a new collaboration.
Later, on 25 October 2019, CCR gathered at a round table all partners to discuss the topic and namely: the UNHCR Regional Representative, Mr. Sergiu Gaina, the Head of the Asylum and Integration Directorate, Bureau for Migration and Asylum, Mr. Iulian Popov, Director of the SWHD, Mrs. Tatiana Bucearschi, and the Head of Community Social Work at SWHD, Mrs. Zinaida Plugari and Director of TAC, Mr. Valeriu Stratila.
Parties agreed on the aspects related to health and hygiene, consent of the beneficiaries, delivery of the lunches, referral mechanism and other. The idea of the social canteen for asylum-seekers is to meet one of their basic need and thus, provide one time per day a lunch. The collaboration will be further strengthened through a tripartite memorandum.
