On 5 March 2021, the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR), partner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Bureau of Migration and Asylum, marked the International Women’s Day with women and girls from refugee community and mixed families.
The online meeting aimed at empowering refugee and mixed families’ women and girls from the Republic of Moldova through remembering the origins and meanings of the celebration. In the context of pandemic restrictions, the meeting provided a space for them to mark the strength of the women across the world and enjoy a celebration for themselves. The meeting included a presentation about the International Women’s Day and the ways other countries celebrate it. Traditionally, children recited poems and sang to women to remember the perseverance and sacrifice of the mothers.
This event united more than 80 women and children from Afghanistan, Armenia, Iraq, Moldova, Syria, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls were invited at CCR to receive presents coronated with tiny Martsishors to enjoy the celebration!
Happy Women’s Day, dear women! Felicitări, dragi femei! С праздником, дорогие женщины!
